Hey friends !
I wrote up my goals in late January using the dimensions of wellness as a framework. In addition to a Bible verse for the year and some “quote” reminders, I wrote goals in the following areas:
Physical
Digital
Occupational
Environmental
Financial
Mental/Emotional
Creative
Spiritual, and
Social
I keep them under my laptop protector, so every day I see them and am reminded of what I am hoping to improve through the year. Let’s get into the updates!
Physical Wellness
I put my gym membership on hold because I haven’t been able to go consistently. I’m bummed, but that’s my reality right now.
I started playing tennis again and I’m doing at-home workouts at least twice a week
I’m not drinking enough water but with the warmer weather, I’m eating more hydrating fruits.
Occupational Wellness:
Just finished with my business coach after 3 months
On track with my PKFF hours and museologie, but struggling
My newsletter audience is growing (!)
Social Wellness:
I’ve met some moms!! I want to do better keeping in touch, but I’m trying to get out and interact with other new mamas. It’s been helpful and affirming.
Relationships are different with my girlfriends, and balancing has been tough, but I’m trying.
Digital Wellness:
I only watch shows/movies when pumping and that isn’t often.
My phone screen time is still way too high. So I’m trying to implement “unplug” days,
Harmony wants to grab my phone which makes me think I’m on it too often.
Financial Wellness:
Sadly, I haven’t started adding to my retirement account (direct from my paychecks.)
I used a budget, but realized my daily/weekly expenditures were in check and completing it added to my workload, so I stopped.
I’m giving about 10% away monthly to organizations and causes I care about.
Creative Wellness:
Struggling with getting to art museums and haven’t been to any live music
Decided to stop puzzling until I have more time and brainspace to do it consistently
I still color to decompress, and I do a ton of activities with and for Harmony
Mental Wellness
I completed a 30 day meditation challenge from Insight Timer in June and hope to continue daily meditations moving forward.
I started, then stopped individual therapy and have been in marriage therapy for a couple of months.
I’m speaking to and treating myself with kindness.
I get to coffeeshops to recharge a few times a month.
I journal, but not enough.
Environmental Wellness
I was able to get a small garden started for the season.
I’m still composting and have used it in my grow bags.
Started using Facebook marketplace and a baby 2nd hand clothing store
I haven’t hiked at all this year- yet.
I’m still using Amazon, but working to buy low tox products.
Spiritual Wellness
Harmony’s baby blessing will be in September.
I’m praying over Harmony and we try to get to 2 services at month
I plan to start devotional again in the second half of the year (now.)
Overall, I am doing far better than I imagined when creating my goals. Working, momming and trying to figure out how to grow my business while managing my household and trying to have relationships is tough. Often, I’m struggling somewhere—but I’m giving myself a ton of grace, managing my expectations, and recalibrating what’s important now.
