Sup Muses ?!
My mom is always in my ear about reducing my sugar. Now to me, I do pretty well. Yes I love my gummy bears and rice krispy treats like any other, but that’s my moma and she’s always looking out for me, PLUS her point is valid. I was willing to do it ONE DAY in August and, well, that day wasn’t horrible so I’ve decided to try it every Monday. I do see the benefit in reducing sugar intake and wanted to open this up to you. First thing first- what does No Sugar Monday entail?
No Sugar Monday should really be called no ADDED sugar Monday because throughout the day I will not be eating or drinking anything with added sugar. What does this mean?
No honey, sugar, agave, etc
No milk with sugar.
No carbs that break down to sugar: oatmeal and pasta.
No Condiments.
No coffee (cream and sugar.)
No mints or gum.
No alcohol.
Yes to Fruits and veggies.
Yes to Grits.
Yes to 100% juice dranks (orange, apple, etc)
Yes to chickpeas, beans, more.
Yes to Tea.
Yes to poultry and seafood.
Yes to snacks: chips, hummus, and seaweed.
If can be difficult do this, even for one day, so do not get discouraged if you have a snack or part of a meal that has sugar. Keep going and one day you’ll do one entire day with no added sugar. Here are a few tips:
meal/snack prep ( cut up veggies for a quick sauté or for dipping in hummus/dips)
do not wait until you’re hungry to grab something to eat
EAT ENOUGH!! or you’ll have a headache, become hangry or get frustrated and grab a quick bite filled with junk food.
wake up and drink some warm water and lemon. Drink h20 throughout the day
Have fruit cut up or in arms reach. [I love to snack on blueberries and apples.]
tell a friend to help keep you accountable & to encourage you.
YOU GOT IT! If you are doing it let me know. If you’re hashtagging it use #noSugarMonday.
Sending you some suga’❤️
